Most would describe me as a teacher and a business owner. But in reality, I am so much more than that. And so are you.

Schools may put us in boxes, but that doesn't mean we have to stay there. So let's break free from what teachers told us we could achieve and start learning what we want and how we need.

'WHERE DID YOU LEARN?'

Right after I finished high school in the Czech Republic where I was born, I moved to New Zealand and travelled in Asia with my now husband. Those years taught me English and independence and made me want to study different cultures, languages and systems even more. After we arrived back to Europe I went to study politics and Spanish in England.

I loved studying abroad and I aimed at learning more languages and go for more adventures. I worked in Scottland and Perú, I studied in Spain for 6 months and then explored parts of South America. I then abandoned politics and dived into Postgraduate Teacher Training.

That brought me to further study in England, Spain, France and China and eventually landed me a teacher job in a UK secondary school.

'WHAT DID YOU LEARN?'

I've learnt that the school system is outdated and a little crazy so I quit the school a year later to start my own teaching bussiness. Then 2020 came and it confirmed just how much the school systems weren't ready to be supporting effective, independent learning.

I spent the next 2 years tutoring teenagers and adults on fast growing tutoring platforms like Tutorful, MyTutor and Superprof. I personally believe it is a good change. That we needed the shake up.

I think we can do better now with all the available technology, online apps, tutoring platforms and AI tools. But we can't isolate ourselves alltogether. We actually need human connection and support more than ever.

Many of the systems we used at university before 2020 have now developed to amazing extent, people spend loads of time on screens and teachers can't really tell who's learning and who's cheating sometimes. But real success still lies in skills. In experience. In confidence.

'WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME?'

There are whole new ways of learning available every day. Anyone can learn languages now! If you are ready to use the online world for your learning and take on new challenges, you might be able to speak a language well in a year or two without ever going to school.

You can make trips abroad knowing you'll be able to join conversations with locals. Or even volunteer, study abroad, get jobs or properties abroad and enjoy a world much bigger than the English speaking part.
